Community Garden Updates -October 2, 2025

By Garden Manager Emmy Ingham MS, RD

As we usher in fall and wrap up this season, I couldn’t be more pleased with what the Community Garden has been able to accomplish this year.

New friends were made and many plants were grown and harvested! We saw a huge outpouring of community support and interest in helping, but really, this did not come as a big surprise. The design and accessibility of the new garden space truly has allowed us to welcome people of all ages and abilities to learn and grow alongside us. I am grateful for this.

We even have a new “Little Library” and garden box just outside the space which has been designed and installed by a resourceful Eagle Scout. Our plan is to utilize the library for garden related books, magazines and seeds and the box as a “give-n-take” for produce. If you have something that fits, please consider donating, and if you find something of interest that will help you become a stronger gardener, please take it. It’s bright red so you can’t miss it!

As for now, our focus will shift as we tidy up the garden and prepare for cooler temperatures. However, brainstorming is in full swing on how we can make the garden even better next year… I already have a few ideas in mind. This year was just the beginning of making the community garden something exceptional. We have more great things in store as we continue to adjust, modify and adapt with community connection at the forefront of our mission.

Thanks for gardening and growing with us this year. I can’t count the number of new faces I met and talked with. It has truly made being your "garden manager" a delight.
