What do you produce/grow?
We are a 1970s inspired farm stand that houses goods made by the hands of local women. Our dream is to offer the community, and communities around us, high quality goods (most of which are food items) that use the finest ingredients. Our vendors are purposeful about using organic ingredients, most of which come from Mother Earth. It is a place where families can gather their weekly goods and be surrounded by the beauty of Berthoud’s land. Our landowner has given us their opportunity and we are so grateful for it!
Giving women a space to sell things that they make with their hands; we feel we are a small stepping stone in their big journey.
How did you get into this business?
Some of my fondest childhood memories are being pushed around our local farm stand. The stand was always filled with smiles, and connection seemed to be at its heart
Fast forward in time, I realized I was a bit “different.” I seemed to connect to people that were much older than myself. I was just a kid and seemed to “roll with” retired adults soaking up, what felt like, silly stories and wisdom beyond my years.
One of those connections became something more. Just two doors down from my house lived a carpenter, and I found real comfort in his workshop. Riding my bike over after school, I’d spend hours sanding chests, sweeping up dusty floors, and learning the rhythm of hard work. His world felt like an echo of the past—where personalities were strong, voices were loud, and respect was earned. I quickly learned that every completed job came with a question: “What do I owe you, kid?” And let me tell you, if you didn’t have the confidence to name a price, you weren’t seeing the fruits of your labor.
Little did I know, that carpenter would become a father figure. His shop became a second home, where long summers were spent learning the value of grit, determination, and the belief that any dream I had could be achieved. When I lacked confidence, he gave me the tools—literally and figuratively—to build something of my own. If I dreamed it, he found a way to make it real.
He passed away nearly three years. And as I work to bring this farm stand to life, I feel him here. This is his spirit working through me—I just know it.
It’s no coincidence that young vendors have approached the stand, eager for a place to start. He gave me the opportunity to grow, and we hope to do the same.
It’s no coincidence that this old shed needs new life. He taught me enough to bring that life back.
It’s no coincidence that he believed in giving back to his community, creating a space that felt like home—a place where food is made with love, where people feel like they matter.
And it’s no coincidence that, at first, I named the shed Little Bert after Berthoud. But after many restless nights, I realized something: Bert connects to his name—roBERT.
So, welcome to Little (ro)Bert. Thank you for being part of this dream. We hope you visit often. We hope you feel the connection. Because that’s what we dream this place is all about ❤️.
